According to yesterday’s Wall Street Journal, it very well might be. It published a piece about MTV and the Rock Band music store, including the statement “MTV Games is hoping to goose sales of its flagging “Rock Band” series with a new service Tuesday that lets average users upload and sell videogame versions of their own music.”

More redundancies to cheer you up on a Friday. Harmonix has confirmed that it’s had to let go 39 of its 300 staff. “We can confirm that 39 positions were eliminated today at Harmonix as part of re-structuring to better align our staffing to best suit our product development plans and schedules moving forward,” said an MTV Games/ Harmonix spokesman.
