British secretary for defense says EA’s decision is “tasteless”

Medal Of Honor banned in Britain?British secretary for defense Liam Fox has called for a ban on the sale of Medal Of Honor in the UK, stating “I would urge retailers to show their support for our armed forces and ban this tasteless product.” Apparently disgusted by EA’s decision to allow players to control Taliban activists, Fox said ”It is shocking that someone would think it acceptable to recreate the acts of the Taliban. I am disgusted and angry. It’s hard to believe that any citizen of our country would wish to buy such a thoroughly un-British game.”

We’ve heard this numerous times before from politicians and protesters the world over. The MP’s sentiments are comparatively objective next to the lambasting that disbarred lawyer Jack Thompson used to hit games with, but issues of moral sensitivity and “Britishness” aside, is it too much for one of these anti-game types to actually play the game for some context before shooting them down?

      Its a bit silly really, I mean look at Modern Warfare 2 with the terrorist moment, where was his moaning then? You can’t even kill British soldiers in this game as there are none, its soley between american and taliban forces!

      Seriosley? Its not like you’re actually a taliban, merely some (well a lot of) pixels, they do it in movies, which look way more realistic, for obvious reasons) and you dont see the government trollin’ about them.

      After he made this comment;

      such a thoroughly un-British game. I would urge retailers to show their
      support for our armed forces and ban this tasteless product.”

      EA responded with;

      “The game “does not allow players to kill British soldiers,” In fact they said, “No British troops feature in the game.”

      The guy is clearly a moron, trying to follow on the second rate reporting of FOX news, so no – wont get banned
