Backbreaker: Idiot Patch To Be Released
The videogames industry can at times rather sadly be entirely predictable, expressing one opinion from the left side of its mouth while spewing out bile from the other side. We speak, naturally, of Backbreaker, NaturalMotion’s recent American Football title featuring collision technology that could potentially revolutionise sports gaming.

Dismayed, team X360 had to sit and read reviews popping up from various sources, praising its ‘nice animations’, at the same time kicking genuine innovation while it’s down by criticising its field of view as unrealistic. In a game featuring fictional teams, and a mode known only as ‘Tackle Alley’.
For starters, such comments were asinine, seeing as no in-game motion came prescribed at all – did anyone out there praise Grand Theft Auto IV’s character models for their animation? Well maybe, but the point is exactly along those lines – it’s all generated on the fly, and thus such criticism makes no sense.
Moving onto the point, further atacks came in based upon its narrow field of view – again, deliberately included in order to foster a sense of claustrophobia in the pocket. Again, brilliantly atmospheric stuff, dumped upon by all.
Anyway, all of this potentially joyous goodness will be erased sometime in ‘early August’ by its ‘Greathouse’ patch which will, among other things, adjust the quarterback camera viewing angle, give players a greater level of control over interceptions and a more detailed suite of replays.
Some people just don’t know when they’re onto a good thing…
