Our morning has been pretty busy today. Not with the machinations of keeping the UK’s Bestselling Independant Xbox 360 magazine running smoothly, oh no. Instead, we’ve been chewing over the Sonic 4 video that briefly appeared on 1Up.com before being pulled at Sega’s request. As typically shaky as many leaked videos of the kind are, it showed the same section of level featured in Sega’s recent trailer actually being played. By a real person, and everything. It appears the first stage is named Splash Hill Zone, and there were others labelled Casino Street and Mad Gear Zones, respectively. The second one isn’t one in which Sonic scores particularly potent drugs.
The main differences as far as our puny eyes could see was a feeling almost of physics routines governing Sonic’s spinning jumps, the blue wonder moving laterally slightly with each spin. With news breaking today that the game hasn’t been handled internally but by Dimps, of Sonic Rush fame, we’re unsurprised to see Sonic move with a little weight behind him. Other than this, the appearance was fleeting, though every bit as beautiful as the above screenshot. Whoever shot it should never get a job as a cameraman, though.
