Microsoft Says 'No' To New Xbox

Get rid of any thoughts of a ‘next-gen’, it’s not going happen!

CES has already provided us with a Natal release date and the new Games Room social gaming network for Live, but Microsoft has been quick to shoot down any talk of a new generation of consoles.

Speaking at CES, senior director of Xbox product management, David Hufford had this to say about the 360 2:

“I think it’s important to say that the Xbox 360 is the console of the long future for us. There is no need to launch a new console, because we’re able to give this console new life either with software upgrades or hardware upgrades like Project Natal.”

So that basically translates to ‘stop asking, you’re not getting a new console, we’re going to update the hell out of the 360 till it falls apart’. Shame, it’d be great to get excited about the possibilities of new technology that doesn’t involve standing up and waving your arms around!
