This challenging strategy outing will number the first in a series of titles set within a fictional steampunk universe; each approaching the task via a different genre. Coo. The series’ prospects look pretty positive if its first entry is anything to go by, the Dutch outfit showing admirable skill in producing an antidote to endless turtling.

Set amid familiar hexagonal settings, it’s pretty standard combat fare but for one detail: resources come mined from the earth, which collapses and eventually disappears as turns progress. At a stroke, players must learn to think not only tactically, but swiftly, about any given situation. An impressive multiplayer suite also lend weight to the case for purchasing what is a deceptively deep strategy title. Just don’t expect it to trump Command & Conquer for flair.
