How Much Would You Pay?
We’ve all done it, sat there guiltily reaching for our wallets as we click on the ‘BUY NOW’ link or shiftily edging our way to the counter of our local game emporium, knowing full well that the game we are about to buy is far too expensive and we really should think of something more worth while to spend our hard earned pennies on

We’ve all done it, sat there guiltily reaching for our wallets as we click on the ‘BUY NOW’ link or shiftily edging our way to the counter of our local game emporium, knowing full well that the game we are about to buy is far too expensive and we really should think of something more worth while to spend our hard earned pennies on. But no matter how much money you’ve spent on games over the last year, we bet it’s nowhere near as much as US resident and games collector JJ Hendricks has spent.
You see Hendricks has spent a whopping $17,500, about £10,700, on one (that’s right ONE) rare Nintendo cartridge. (Try explaining that one to your partner!) The golden cartridge is an obscure collection called ‘Nintendo World Champions’ and is generally considered an incredibly rare and sort after piece of gaming history. It was produced to promote a Nintendo sponsored competition in the 90s and only 26 exist and even though it doesn’t contain very much in terms of gaming hours, the snob in us says the man got a good deal.
The cartridge contains a collection of SNES demos ranging from Super Mario Bros, Rad Racer and Tetris. All good games, but considering you only get to play them for around six minutes each, we can think of many things that money could have been better spent on.
Don’t judge Hendricks though, as a collector he thinks he got a good deal and considering the cartridge was originally listed on eBay at $25,000 we’re inclined to agree.

Man. There’s me refusing to pay £44.99
