Ghostbusters: Is It Worth The Wait?

Despite being a single format mag, we’re hardcore gamers at heart and generally can’t resist playing every game on every system. It’s just hard wired into us (we’re crazy like that). As such, when we heard that Ghostbusters: The Videogame was delayed on the 360 (because of some dubious Sony wrangling) we were dissapointed. But that doesn’t mean we wouldn’t attempt to give it a go on the PS3.

And we’re happy to report that Ghostbuster’s is a surprisingly solid game. If you’ve grown up watching the films then this is a nostalgia trip down memory lane for the fans and played on the casual difficulty setting is a whole lot of fun. Played on anything higher and the difficulty level becomes a bit unmanageable and incredibly frustrating. But Ghostbuster’s should be played for the ride not for the difficulty.

The graphical differences are apparently quite noticeable between the PS3 and 360 versions. Having only seen the PS3 version it’s difficult to imagine what they are, but either way watching a proton stream ejecting from a proton pack and snaring a ghost sends shivers down our spine. It certainly looks the part and as fans it’s hard not to feel like a big kid running around with Ray, Egon and the others.

This is a very solid title and it could have quite easily turned into what most movie tie-ins do,  complete utter rubbish and bitter dissapointment.

So, is it really worth the wait? Probably, but it depends on how much you enjoy busting ghosts. If you like the films, then there’s a good chance this will give you a tickle.
