It’s time for a concept art attack…

Waiting for a game to come out takes a lot of patience. Over the years we’ve developed multiple ways of dealing with the gulf between titles. Looking at screenshots, watching trailers, reading magazines and websites and poring over developer interviews, all in the vain hope of learning what experience awaits us. These are all valid ways of quenching your desire for knowledge, but to get an idea of where a developer is going with a game, looking at its artwork is surely the best way to get an overall impression.

This is why we decided to take a look at some of the artwork released for upcoming Capcom flight/adventure game Dark Void. Not only is the art really gorgeous, but we can also go a bit pretentious and farty over it, like we’ve got it on our coffee table or something.

It must be great working as a concept artist for a company like Capcom. One day someone will come to you and ask you to draw a massive alien robot that can climb vertical mountains while under attack from a small man with a rocket pack strapped to his back. That must be a good day.

Though these shots are all suitably impressive, here’s an actual screenshot to whet your appetites for Dark Void. Is everyone else as excited as us?
