Classics We Want!

I say we, but I really I mean me, and when I say Classics, I actually mean, games I played when I was younger.

Since the release of the 360 and the life-changing, amazing Live Arcade, we’ve seen some truly brilliant games come our way. Old games, new games, even the odd remake and now that LucasArts finally – finally – released Monkey Island, what other games from the long distant past would we like to see? Will it really open the floodgates for all sorts of old favourites to be released?

I don’t want to nitpick or start a flame war or anything, but PSN allows for old PSone games to be downloaded and played. Selected ones obviously, but that’s an awesome feature. Now that Microsoft has increased the file size for XBLA games, what old titles would perfectly suit the 360?

Here’s a list of five games I want. It’s my opinion and personal preference, so let me know what your top five would be…

Classics We Want!

X-Wing vs TIE Fighter

The multiplayer-focused Star Wars flight sim would be perfect for reliving those epic space battles. No more of this Republic Heroes rubbish.

Classics We Want!

Grim Fandango

There may be a slight LucasArts slant to this list, but it did start the ball rolling and this point-and-click adventure is one of its finest.

Classics We Want!

Dark Forces & Dark Forces 2

I can’t even help myself; LucasArts ruled my youth. These have just been released on Steam and are ripe for XBLA conversion. I want to play as Kyle Katarn again!

Classics We Want!

Dino Crisis

Forget the rubbish sequel; this Resident Evil-with-dinos was an excellent shooter-cum-puzzler. This would look amazing all HD’d up.

Classics We Want!

Oddworld: Abe’s Odyssey

This old PSone game will probably never make it, but with its special brand of humour and platforming, I’d love to have another chance to play it.

Steam has most of these games, I think it’s about time we started seeing a greater commitment to the older game!

Pang ruined my childhood, bring it to XBLA so it can ruin someone else’s too. (For those under a hundred years old it was an ancient arcade cabinet game involving a little fella with a grappling hook thing and some bouncy bubbles).
I also want Star Wars Battlefront for the 360, it’s the only reason I’ve kept my PS2.
