How many times have you heard a rumour about yet another Halo movie that’s gone into production from an official source or website? 343 Industries gets at least one email about a new Halo film every day, and each time, it’s forced to deny the incessant industry murmurs. More than any other series, Halo has branched out into the mainstream with its books, comic and animations and so audiences are more willing to expect a Halo film at some point.

It seems such a certainty, even when a website completely fabricates a story or misinterprets a rumour from a few years ago.

“That kind of thing happens all the time,” explains 343 Industries franchise director, Frank O’Connor. “The problem is, as soon as it comes out of a remotely official-looking source it takes on a totally new life. There can be five movie rumours a day online, from kids… it’s hard to control that kind of information. It’s an ongoing struggle of clear communication and trying to do the best thing.”

343 should take solace; it’s far better to have a successful series and a rabid fanbase than an absent one, clearly. Though rumours surrounding Halo will no doubt continue to surface and jump wildly from sounding quite likely to ‘not a chance’, there will always be someone interested in digging a little deeper. With that in mind, we were curious exactly what 343 has planned for Halo’s future that doesn’t include its fourth iteration and the kick starting of a new trilogy…
“We’re not working on any tangential products right now (like Halo Wars or ODST),” explains O’Connor. “But, if we did, they would be connected to the main series in important ways. Right now, all eyes are on 2012 and the next game.”

so the fact that Steven Speilburg actually came out and said he would be taking over the Halo Movie that is being published by Dreamworks?…

im sorry, i believe Speilburg more then 343. 343 is going to ruin the Halo series like it is already doing…. R.I.P Halo

I just hope that 343 comes out with a bit more information than they have been. It ticks me off that they announce the same info every time the press and fans ask. Halo fest
