Denis Dyack, president of Silicon Knights, the esteemed developer behind this title was quoted during 2007 as having said that “Too Human is one of the most misunderstood games in the industry”. While we’re not exactly sure who is doing the misunderstanding, we’re also a little skeptical of a statement like this. If the game can’t communicate its reason for existing particularly well to the press, this certainly raises worries as to exactly how well the game may be able to communicate to the player. Despite this, though, we’re currently waving the flag for Too Human.

There’s a number of reasons for this. Taking its inspiration from Norse mythology and applying its belief system to a sci-fi narrative in which Norse gods and heroes become tangible facets of the narrative, you’ll play the part of a warrior named Baldur. And we reckon that any perceived misunderstanding of the game stems possibly from the trailers and gameplay footage seen depicting said hero pummelling seven shades of sh*t out of all and sundry, which, to be fair, does portray the title to be a pretty actionfocused affair. In actual fact though, Too Human has far more in common with certain sci-fi RPGs that we won’t mention (let’s simply judge Too Human on its own merits). As well as being essentially storydriven, the game incorporates characterbuilding options as well as a prodigious array of upgradable equipment and item drops.

This game’s development cycle has been a stuttered affair, with many hints over the last couple of years that we would be expecting to play the title some time soon. What’s actually caused us to put pen to paper and bring you this wee preview, though, is the news that we’re past caring and are instead content to keep a candlelit vigil.
