Mass Effect III Out Sooner Than You Think

How much Mass Effect can you handle?

It comes as no surprise to hear that Bioware, upon completion of Mass Effect 2 (out in a few weeks), started work right away on its sequel, that just makes sense. But, you may be playing as Shepard far sooner than you would have first thought. In an interview over on IGN, project manager Casey Hudson confirms that the final part of the trilogy is well and truly under way and fans should expect a much shorter turn around this time. It makes sense too, it’s been three years since the original was released and in that time Bioware has made countless improvements to the engine, combat and everything else that was criticised. Bioware must think that what they have now in Mass Effect 2 is a near perfect system.

But as well as that, how long will it be until we begin to hear rumblings of ‘the next generation’? This has already been a longer than average console generation and Bioware want to make sure they are well within the 360′s life cycle or their save system and branching storyline set-up won’t work. So, what does that mean for Mass Effect III? Our guess is that we’ll see plenty of DLC throughout 2010 and early 2011 and then perhaps mid-late 2011 Shepard will be back for his final and greatest adventure.

What do you think? When would you like to see a Mass Effect sequel.

bioware wouldnt make such a bold move unless they where absolutely sure, although it doesnt say the exact amount of time it will take, so, i say watch and wait.
