Gears Of War And Resident Evil Invade Lost Planet 2

How to split an audience down the middle…

For audiences across the pond in North America who pre-order Lost Planet 2, Capcom and Gamestop will throw in the maniacal Albert Wesker as a wonderful playable character. To complete the insanity of the cross pollination between not only Gears Of War and Lost Planet 2, they’ve now thrown in Resident Evil 5. That’s a lot of modern day gaming heroes to fight the Akrid with and as X360 found out recently when we got the Lost Planet 2 code through the door, this is taking a far bigger departure from the original games story driven template than we first thought.

Gone is the melodramatic narrative and in its place is co-op gaming goodness that has a lot more in common with Japanese super-hit Monster Hunter. Taking on the absolutely huge creatures requires tons of fire power but with the added option of playing as your favourite characters from other series gives the game a multiplayer edge that we’re more than happy to adopt. Now, it’s all about the experience.

With any luck Resi stalwart Wesker won’t be exclusive to the States and we’ll eventually see his chiseled abs pop up over here. Until then, we’ll just have to sit and hope that Capcom have a few more secret characters up their sleeves… Master Chief anyone?
