Never before have we been so
perplexed by a videogame. We’re sure
that mini-games are supposed to be
fun, but every game in Fuzion Frenzy is
extremely fiddly, unexciting and, above
all else, bizarre. Sure, there’s a wide
variety on offer, but nearly every one
is appalling. Some are far too sensitive
to control whereas others aren’t
sensitive enough, and a few don’t even
make sense. Don’t fall into the trap
of thinking it gets better as time goes
on either; there’s absolutely nothing
to be gained from spending time with
it. Why? Because Frenzy has a fetish
for screwing people over at every
opportunity thanks to its atrocious
card system. Cards can be used that’ll
affect rounds in certain ways – they
may double your final score or give you
first dibs on what the next mini-game
is. Unfortunately, using these cards is
pointless. Imagine you’ve placed a ‘x6
card’; well, you can bet your ass that
someone else will lay a ‘reverse effect’
card that cripples your score and costs
you the round – brilliant!
Fuzion Frenzy 2 fails to make amends
in its multiplayer either, the very thing it
tries to encourage. Why it boasts itself
as a party game is a real mystery to us;
we’re fairly confident that whipping it
out (steady) at a social gathering would
result in the said gathering dying a
rather quick and painful death as four
people suffer simultaneously.
