If you complete the thieves guild missions you can get a set of Nightingale armour (it looks quite cool and if your smithing is good enough can be upgraded quite a bit) which has gloves that improve lockpicking 15% - 25% depending on your level when you get them...

"Nightingale armor can be improved using void salts. There are six levels of improvement Fine, Superior, Exquisite, Flawless, Epic and Legendary. When combined with a high light armor skill and perks, this can easily exceed 567, (or 80% damage reduction), with a high smithing skill, fortify smithing potions and enchanted smithing apparel."

It's good enough for me and the entire set only weighs 18...

Fair play, I crafted all Legendary Daedric armour, I think that I was the closest thing to a tank that Skyrim had!

Where do I find these Guild of so called thieves Pale?

Loving the way skills increase as you use them. I'm a little worried my two handed sword/wizard is a little in danger of being a jack of all trades master of none.. but I like being able to mix it up.

Spent ages in a dungeon full of weird bronze mechanical things last night.. great fun sneaking around.. picking up loot and smiting all those who opposed me. The writings really good in this as well a lot of the time.

Riften in the small circular market place infront of the pub. Speak to a guy managing one of the stores to start the quest line.

As Eli said... travel to Riften and talk to one of the market stall traders.

Yes, again it's part of the thieves guild quest line... should you choose to keep it.

I didn't get that far with the Thieves Guild, my character was never great at sneaking. I'd always have to rush in smack them with my 2 maces and then see if there was anything left after. Most dragons went down in 3 - 5 hits.

Got distracted from the Hogwarts quests.. wanted to find the staff of whatever.. but thought I'd just have a wee look for this guild of thieves and then suddenly I've got a list of quests to do as long as my arm.

I liked it when I was setting fire to the bee hives as a dragon turned up with a bit of flaming breath to distract the guards and add to the toasting.

So much to do. I want to deliver all the letters.. honestly I do. but I keep getting distracted.

Yeah same here Bobo, I had all good intentions to stick mainly to the main quest line, but it's so easy to get distracted.

That's one of the reasons why I loved this game so much. I ended doing up what I did with Oblivion, spend about 100hrs exploring and then a few hours doing the main quest.
