As our resident film critic I think you're reading to much into it.

He's obviously taken the blockbuster paycheck and then done the least amount of work.

I'm all for an economical performance.. look at Gosling in Drive.

Hoffman's performance in MI:3 isn't that. It's just lazy and phoned in.

Fair enough Bob.

Im trying not to read too much into it. Hoffman doesnt strike me as someone who just phones it in, he was certainly picked because he exudes a reptilian quality.

I found him to be the best villian in the series so far. His amoral, almost uncaring approach to death was chilling IMO. Not a classic Hans Gruber style performance but good for a blockbuster.


But then again IMO.
