Thought I remembered some news about that a while since. Also noticed since then that the trade/cash values of your used games at Gamestation when down by loads putting them more or less in line with Game whereas before they offered far more.

It's got to the point now (what with the general, across the board drop in used game values too) where it works out better to sell your old games for cash at CEX and then go spend it in Gamestation than it does to trade in said shop

I find all high street retailers to be more expensive than buying online, plus if I buy online I get to avoid going into any of their smelly stores with their loud, horrible music. I can totally see why they are starting to struggle, they will start leaning towards second hand sales much more now that developers are trying to whip that away.

For some strange reason in Swindon (the nearest town to where I live) there are two Game stores and a Gamestation. And there used to be three Game stores, as one was in Debenhams. They all have the same deals and such, does make me wonder what is the point. Swindon town centre aint the biggest, but they must be doing relatively well, otherwise they would of closed one of em down (see Debenhams).

GAME’s board of directors has announced it has “concluded discussions with its lending syndicate” and has agreed it will revise “terms for its facilities”, which will allow the firm to continue operations.

In order to continue operating, the firm has agreed to do so within the “lower limits of its existing facilities than was previously available.”

With the new plans in place, the board, stockholders, and lenders are “confident” GAME will meet financial tests when the next meeting occurs on February 27. It will also need to provide an updated plan covering all aspects of its business including overseas operations, but the plan will need to be approved by lenders before being put into place.

The firm expects to post losses of £18 million for the year, which is lower than analyst speculation.

“We’re pleased to reach agreement with our lenders, but should be under no illusions about the challenges in our market or the hard work that is required to deliver our strategic plan,” said CEO Ian Shepherd in a statement.

GAME operated 665 stores in the international market – 573 in continental Europe, and 92 in Australia – as well as 610 in the UK and Ireland.

It's the same in Wolverhampton and Merryhill too...

Same in croydon 2 stand alone games, 1 game in Debenhams and a gamestation, totally over kill but they are always busy.

I don't like to be a naysayer but my local GAME had no copies of FF XIII - 2, NeverDead or MGS HD out on the shelves.. HMV had plenty of both. Worrying times.

Ah right, they are positioned one above the other. I'm not from them there parts but I frequented the area while the wife was at uni there about 6 years ago. I do think Game have possibly over stretched themselves, it sometimes feels that there are as many Game stores as there are McDONALD'S.

As for game, not sure. May have to take my piercings out and put a hat on again to brave the city centre store tomorrow and have a gander.

I nipped into my local one today an asked them to keep me a copy back and they aren't getting any in until next week. Tried a few other places with no joy there either.
