New 360 2/720/Next Box Rumour Thread!

Ok. So we're all expecting a replacement for our beloved 360 console soon.

So, apparently, is everyone and the rumours are starting to come in thick and fast.

Let's get the ball rolling with this little beauty.

Next Box will play Blu-Ray WONT play used games[/url] oh and something about Kinect 2 no one but Pretty Boy's son cares about.

i personally don't think it will play blurays, more like a bespoke MS version of bluray (like the old dreamcast discs) and if MS can't stop people playing "back up's" on the 360 then i can't see them stopping people playing used games.

one thing it better have though is a usb port to switch profiles between 360/720 xbox's

BluRay is a must I think. Or maybe MS will bring back HD-DVD
I'd love to see them stop charging to play games over xbox live and have a setup like PSN+ where you play online for free but get extras if you subscribe.
A gpu that allows games to run at 720p and 60fps with super graphics would be nice. 1080p isn't really needed IMO.

Of course it'll have BluRay. Not to would be fairly dumb. It'll be the end of the next gen before digital distribution is the absolute norm.

It doesn't have to have Blu Ray per-se.. presumably they could reverse engineer it and make a non-compatible HD format disc that they don't have to pay Sony royalties for and wont play Blu Ray movies..

It comes down to whether the added functionality is going to generate sales that'll offset the licensing fee to Sony.

I believe Nintendo have done just that and made their own Bluray style HD format for Wii-U.

Can't see it not having Blu-Ray tbh, if MS are planning on heading towards that 'all in one entertainment box' that everyone has beneath their telly then surely it's a must what with Blu-Ray being as established as it is now.
They may have to lose face a bit by paying Sony the royalties but surely it's a no brainer.

Could Sony say no though is what I'm wondering? If they have the Blu-Ray rights could they turn round and tell MS to get bent if they ask to use it? Presumably they could but I suppose it'd come down to which option they saw as the best financially...

Kinect 2 built in, not needing a football field worth of space in your front room to play it. full voice integration would be nice. one of those suck-in disk drives rather than a tray. Yes, I'm easily pleased

Blu Ray would be a coup for MS if it got it for the Xbox TNG, Sony might sit back and enjoy the royalties until it realised the only reason to have a PS3/4 was for Blu-Ray, if MS gets it into the Xbox TNG its an all in 1 box as it wants it to be, it'll be playing PS3 games next.

Apparently the nextbox is getting a Radeon HD 6670... Which I wouldn't be surprised at considering there only £50 ($80) a pop now!

It wouldn't just be up to Sony, there are a number of companies that would need to decide.
