Of course. And I will probably hold you to that.

I think I like the new scoring system, it is different yet familiar. Just out of interest how would Skyrim, Rage, Dark Souls and Deus Ex have been rated using the new system?

That's quite possible :) . I would like to see if the scores actually do reflect the reviews more accurately.

And sorry but Deus Ex has 8/10 written all over it IMO

For me, Deus Ex was close to a 9. The only thing that detracted from it was the stiff character animation. It was in my top 3.

Please note, the following is my opinion only.

Very few games are perfect, (can barely think of an in fact), but some games still get 10/10 becuase their faults arnt memorable or dont detract from the experience. Examples would be Skyrim, or Fallout 3.

Deus Ex is a great game too but IMO its mistakes did detract from the experience for me. Thats why it only gets an 8.

I Know some of you did think its was amazing though, which is fair enough. I just merely thought it was very good, not amazing.

I just find scores a bit artificial really, especially as they attempt to map an assessment of quality to a convenient number such as 5, 10 or 100. How many gradations of quality are there that are worth distinguishing between for the purposes of offering a summary to those wanting to choose whether to buy or not? I reckon there are maybe around 7: Outstanding, very good, good, fair, mediocre, poor, abysmal. I tend to find with all scoring systems out of 10 that there's some redundancy, especially down the bottom end where all you really need to know is whether the reviewer a) thinks it's a bit crap but fans could get something out of it or b) it's so fundamentally broken that it shouldn't really have been released and can't be recommended even to fans. On the other hand, the 5-star ratings maybe lack one or two points on the scale, especially with the 2-star/3-star games.

Marks out of 7, that's what I want. If we had 7 fingers, it'd probably be standard. Apparently, in Norfolk, it *is*.

Oh, that's right pick on the Norfolkians, yep, It's not their fault that they prefer the company of family to strangers.

For me (and me only):
Skyrim: 10
Rage: 8
Dark Souls: 9
Deus Ex: 7

Other members of staff may differ, so you'll have to ask them.

Yeah I noticed that too and also the news section has been cut down.

Is this to do with the strimming down that Dan mentioned last month, or just to make way for 50 games of 2012 feature?

The latter.

Hmmm, I'm sure that on this here forum you rated Dark Souls 10 oot of 10. Suppose it just shows opinions can change. Though I would agree 9/10 is probably more accurate.

Agreed. I think scores should be done away with completely.

What matters is that I can decided whether a game sounds appealling to me or not. If, from the content of a review the game sounds appealling to me then its score is completely irrelevant.

Howdle! Rage scores more than DE:HR in your crazy head? MP's have had to resign for less!
