Im reading I, Parridge: We need to talk about Alan at the moment. If you are fan of the charcater or wry comedy id reccomend it, its a proper book, (not a Peter Kay style Xmas plug fest), albiet written by a moron.

Very good.

So i finished Snuff, i actually finished it last week and thought my review had posted but apparently not.

Its good, its another Vimes tale, bit more murder mystery than usual, goblins, countryside and Willikins all present.

I rather enjoyed it, not the best Pratchett ever but not the worst. Some interesting new characters, there is a sombre undertone that is put through obviously with his current condition. Looking towards the future and what it may hold and thinking of the past and the next generation and all that.

Vimes seems to be becoming the Pratchett outlet of choice for his personal thoughts, whereas in the past his personality was imprinted on all the characters, Vimes is now a very introspective beast.

Would be interested to know what everyone else thought.

7/10 as a score i think

Not enjoying it myself, several times it clunks because what he's saying doesn't sound like it would come out of Partridge's mouth. For example, there's waaaaay to much cursing.
If in doubt, put the kettle on.

Just finished Enduring Love, I do really like McEwan and although it's not my favourite, 'tis good.

It loses its way part way through, but some chapters are magic.

True about the swearing though, he usually says "jackanacknory"

Exactly, there's apiece in the very last episode where he finally went crazy and snapped and shouted "oh FUCK OFF" and it was a big deal. In the book it's every other page.
If in doubt, put the kettle on.

Just finished the 'Illuminatus Trilogy'. Longest book I've ever read but definatley worth it. Absolutely hilarious p1ss take on conspiracy theories with a brilliantly fitting ending. couldn't recommend it more.

10/10

Terminal World by Alastair Reynolds.

An interesting 'steam punk' read.. Recommended.

Just finished Ringworld. Masters of Sci-Fi edition. HALO done in 1974? Hmmm

Started World War Z for the fifth time - great book except for the simpering english bloke (do Americans really think thats all we act like?)
My conviction is born to damn the fuckers who doubted me. To rise to great heights even beyond my own legend as a Great Cocksmith, Master Pintsman, and stunningly handsome Prince of Light in these dark Dark Ages!

Stephen King's new one (Seeing as we're not bothering to give titles anymore).

it's a time travel adventure based around the JFK assassination.

It's not without merit. Nor is it his greatest work.

The ending brought a tear to my eye and normally endings aren't his strong suite.. so take from that mini review what you will.

A Visit from the Goon Squad.

Uniformly excellent.

Joe Abercrombie - A Blade Itself

Now there was some quality reading, a good dark fantasy read like A Game of Thrones.
