Why do all the guards see me when i disturb one of them?

No particular game just all of them.

Its really annoying on any game, when you go around a corner and bam - 1 guard in the middle of an empty corridor with no alarm panels spots me and SMACK the entire population of the planet knows exactly where i am and turns up within 5 seconds.

Why?

Its even worse on stealth games where part of the point of Stealth should be dealing with surprises in a stealthy way. The same goes for using a silenced weapon on someone and an alarm going off because a shot was fired????

Anyone elses views would be appreciated.

Really? Deus ex does it, Skyrim does it, BF3 does it, i bet MW3 does it, even Fifa does it, computer passes the ball between its players and my AI team are no where near for interceptions or pressure, i pass the ball and the comp team is all over me before the ball has reached my desired player. Its just lazy game design.

I would love a new Thief game but this would have to be sorted for it to be any good.

Deus Ex doesn't do it, there is an achievement for not having anyone set off alarms and that's the only way that everyone can know you are around. If noone sets an alarm off then you can kill a few and carry on through without anyone else becoming wary.
MW3 and BF3 probably don't count simply because they lack stealth levels. Or at least unscripted ones.
I can't speak for Skyrim but FIFA is different... not to say what you mention isn't an issue, but that's more because the control is supposed to be in the hands of the player to intercept and whatnot.

I think the opposite is worse, when you get a wet one in plain sight and nobody bats an eyelid. Kinda happens in Skyrim all the time: I stealth-killed a couple of guards the other day, his mates reacted appropriately and zeroed-in on their bodies, sniffed around for a bit then sat back down at the table to eat while the corpses ragdoll-spasmed in the corner.

Skyrim's "AI" is fucking AWFUL. My strategy for beating the "bosses":

1. Arrow to the neck from the shadows. Nice bit of health whittling going on there but he's alerted now that there is an arrow embedded in his fucking neck, and rightly so. Here he comes, looking for me.

2. Stay perfectly still.

3. 10 seconds pass. The boss with AN ARROW EMBEDDED IN HIS FUCKING NECK says, "hmmmm, must've been the wind" and goes back to his starting position.
