But because Arkham isn't a succession of levels, *example jungle, sewer, city street. Arkham is really just one very large level that mutates as the story evolves.
When new areas open up from a power up or a development from the story, it feels more of an organic process rather than retreading old ground.

Basically unless you are hunting all of the riddlers items from the very get go, then there is always a purpose to areas being locked at that given point.

Rage is more the Deus Ex style open world set up. When enroute between locations mini driving, shooting or collection challenges are brought into the area of the map your in and its all done on the fly. Feltrite is rare collectible which requires you to search for if your on foot but as progression is made you start getting feltrite meteor storms. This allows feltrite collection whilst driving between locations; some sidequests require feltrite so if you don't want to take time exploring you can collect it as you go.

As a super hero licence AA is untouchable but there were just things that let it down for me. All Rocksteady had to do was jetison the question mark collectibles and add more puzzle solving riddles bringing The Riddler more into game. One of those where faults are made more prominent by the rest being done so well.

Got this the other day and.......it's a bit meh.
Missions just seem to be go here, get this, shoot whoever you encounter, return said thing. Rinse and repeat!
Graphics aren't all that either. Sure they look nice but in the same way a photo looks nice. There's just nothing else going on.

Not long got onto disc 2 and the game keeps getting better. There is quite a marked visual change with more reliance upon engineering items, weapon selection and ammo types in order to be successful.

Sentry bots ftw.

Seriously enjoying this, it is immense fun. Had a go on the multiplayer aspect and the co-op is a good laugh. The buggy multiplayer reminds me of Blur but it is annoying when you get stuck on the environment.

The guns are great though. They really do have some omph.

Just picked this up in Asda for £32. Have been looking forward to this one for a while, although I see some of you think it's a bit rubbish.

I hope it's worth the hype. :)

I don't think anyone thinks it's rubbish.

It's just a bit old school. What it does it does very well.. it's just not taking the genre forward. Apart from teh awesome graphics.. but even that's at the expense of inter action.

Sounds like a stinky 3/10 from Edge.

Agreed.

Rage is a little slow off the mark but its a hybrid which sits nicely between straight line and open world shooters.

Played it for about an hour, didn't think much of it, won't be buying it.

Seems very average.

Nice to see that when it required me to insert disc 2 the 360 flidded out, Crashed the game and told me it required an update that it couldn't find.. Despite being signed into Live.

There's a lesson for all the "disc switching isn't a chore" crowd.

Blu Ray For THE MFW!

Who thought it was a good idea not to put a mini map or guiding beacon in the hub towns?

nevermind the waves of bad guys before you can open a door.. something I seem to remember EDGE complaining about in their Shadows of the Damned review.. a bit like having to sell each individual item from your inventory.. like they complained about in their Dead Island review.. it's lacking a lot of polish in everything other than the graphics.. disappointing.

I wouldn't bother with Dark Souls that doesn't use a map at all.
