Crysis

Postby hollywooda on Thu Oct 06, 2011 9:17 am

This was released yesterday on the Marketplace On demand service, its £14.99 & is 4.2gb.

Crysis is the first game in the series so to us dumb console owners this is the prequel to this years "perfectly paced" blockbuster, Crysis 2!.

I downloaded this last night over night & had a quick play this morning. First off it runs at 1080p at 60fps & graphically it is stunning & runs as smooth as butter.

The 1st section of the game has you stalking through the dark jungle & running through a short tutorial of the controls, which have been ripped straight from
the excellently worked Crysis 2.

But its not till the sun rises & you hit the beach that you realise what a stunning game this is, even though this is an old PC game its still up there with the best of what's
available today, which i guess you can see as depressing or give the developer a well deserved pat on the back for creating a game that was obviously a generation ahead of itself.

Either way it looks very nice, sunlight glistens off the water & cascades through trees, water shimmers beautifully & the jungle & coastline in general feel vibrant & alive.

I've only played a very small portion of Crysis & I'm already hooked & want to get back to explore more.

I agree with Hollywooda above. Great looking, seems like a cross between Crysis 2 and far cry 2, which is great in my book. Have only played about 20mins, but agree totally. Can't wait till work finished to continue.

Something of a shocker considering the same people made Crysis in between those two games

We need to learn when to say "enough", rather than gluttonously devouring more and more of the same thing through sheer force of habit.

I don't like what they've done to the suit for it.... rather changed the balance of the game a lot and it's a lot easier now as a result...

Yer I did kinda think that, you start off being very powerful, but I'm playing it on Hard & you certainly aren't a bullet sponge, even a couple of dudes can kill you very quickly if you play stupid.

Seems like it's basically the Crysis 2 setup. Cloak lasts aaaaaaaages. And sprint.

I had this on PC many moons ago and thought it was really good. It'll be interesting to see if its aged much.
I might give it a go when the gaming glut is over (that'll be next summer then).
I have two friends called William Hill...what are the odds?
My dad used to hit me with a camera...i still have flashbacks.

Come on now, let's drop the Crysis 2 pacing debate, its old & you look silly when you say it, move on.

In answer to your question, you start the game fully kitted out so no getting up to speed & no clever slow burning story arc to confuse
your gold fish, infantile, attention span, I hope this pleases you?.

@Duffking the battery doesn't last that long in cloak when you start firing but Sprint does last a while, I'll have to get further into the game to see if this is a breaker. Also being cloaked doesn't mean you can just walk past people at close range like Crysis 2, the guards detect you easily.
