I'm 32 years of age and have been reading your mag' since issue one and have enjoyed each and every one. This is my first post so go easy on me.
I watched the keynote speech yesterday with much interest and what impressed me was how much the Kinect could offer to traditional gaming in the years to come. Up to that point I had been very stand-offish about the add-on. Seeing as a bit of a gimmick that was just doing Wii stuff but better, up to this point I guess that has been the case. But having watched Mass Effect 3 (massive fan of this series) and the Ghost Recon demos I was somewhat blown away with how Kinect could be used alongside pad based play.
So my question.? I have VERY limited space available to me. I have no real intention of jumping around to the likes of Dance Central et all. If I hooked up a Kinect system with NO floor space and would only be used with me SITTING no more that five feet from the screen. Is the thing going to work at all? And when i say work I mean for Voice recognition for Mass Effect 3, hand gestures in Child of Eden, talking to the console etc??
Thanks for your excellent publication and keep up the stirling work. Max.

Can no-one help with this?? And no Clowntrousers I don't work for Microsoft. :)

Yes it'll be fine, But I'd get it cheap (preowned / ebay) if you're not going to be using it for the dancing, running, sport side of things.

That's great news - so it'll let me carry out the setup where it reads the room and stuff? And I'll be on Child of Eden before you can say Mr Gates. Cheers for that.

I'm not sure Shrimper Max is gonna be able to Child of Eden with only 5 feet of space.
Not unless he gets that kinect smallifier (i am patenting that new word :D ).
Mine had to move rooms due to lack of space.
No more dinner time in the living room there wasnt enough space for food and kinect. :)
Its one or the other nowadays.

Been listening to some old podcasts recently. You guys should start doing them aagin, theres a real dirth of gaming podcasts.

The Midlife gamer is ok but usually resorts to swearing and unabashed mysogeny, and the other ones ive listened to were just full of screeching manchilds who thought saying "Fuck" at the end of ever sentence was funny.
