But the person who brought FIFA 10 into the shop probably bought a brand new game with the proceeds, and that's precisely the point Bob is making. It keeps money and games flowing through the system.

Finally someone with some common sense.

Yes they will. You'll give your money to GAME for a pre-owned game that somebody else brought in to trade for something else. Just think - the new games have to come from somewhere. Every pre-owned game in the shop was bought new by somebody. That somebody elected to bring that game into the shop rather than let it fester on their bookshelf. They no doubt bought another game to replace it. It brought you and your money into the shop. And so it goes on.

But, I don't blame publishers for introducing codes for online content.

Edit: thanks Bob!

Just traded in some of my old games which I don't play any more.

Bought Terminator 1 & 2 box set, Robocop Trilogy box set, Donnie Darko and Blood:The Last Vampire (anime) with the money I got.

Just gonna buy Fifa 11 new, as some online features aren't available if you buy it 2nd hand.

I can get for £30 new, not much cheaper preowned.

Yeah. Once you get used to the new passing system, its really good. I rented it before and went back to playing Fifa 10 and just didn't feel right. The campaign/manager mode is where I spent the majority of time, and that is a lot better. Mind you if they have the same glitch where you go to another club and you end up with -£2mill balance, I will personally go over to EA Canada and stick Fifa 11 up there arse. Sideways.
