I prefered the film Spaceballs to all of the Star Wars films.

Like Raz said, any true Star Wars geek knows all about Fett and his history/future around the films. He's no more mysterious than anyone else, to anyone who knows anything beyond the six films.

As for the prequels, they were quite good for what they were. The problem is, is back in the original trilogy, the universe has a very gritty, dirty almost wild west feel to it, whereas the newer ones are very clean and shiny and pristine. I feel that this is the 'essence' that the new films lose.

As for the TV show, I'd much prefer a New Republic era show (post-ROTJ) to show the Galaxy rebuilding.

Wasn't that the point tho? To show what the universe was like before it all went t!ts up?

I think the problem with the prequels is that they were always on to a hiding to nothing.
The thing with the original SW was that it was an incredible never seen before spectacle (i know, i saw it on release) but now everythings been done already. CGI has meant that special effects are mundane and if you've seen one space battle or creature then you've seen them all. Back then SW was unique but if you watch it now you can see how dated its become, camp, even.
I did'nt hate the prequels, sure, they were'nt perfect and had annoying characters but watch the originals, Binks = Ewoks, Hamills Luke was an annoying whiny brat in SW and he was hardly a terrific actor, same as Christiansen. Could you compare the sabre fight between Kenobi and Skywalker with the Kenobi vs Vader ones?
I have two friends called William Hill...what are the odds?
My dad used to hit me with a camera...i still have flashbacks.

Yeah, I see what you're saying but it just proves where it went wrong.

He took the formula from the original trilogy and put in the same ingredients. Forgot the magic and thought we'd be interested in politics.

And told us three stories we already knew the ending to. We knew they'd take Anakin on as a Padawan in the first film. WE knew that they were in no real danger in the second and we knew that he'd fall to the dark side in the third! That's the problem with all prequels... well that, and trying to create a story where all of the characters from the old films appear in the new ones. And that in itself makes what was once an infinite Galaxy seem much more smaller when it turns out that everyone already knew everyone else before the events of the OT.
