Gamerscore Milestones

O Hai Gais.
Today I broke the 30,000 Gamerscore mark. It made me feel happy.

What were the breakthroughs for you, and how close are you to the next big score that doesn't look weird?

Next one for me is 100k..

To be fair, it's a year or so since i hit 50k though not that anyone really notices that it's taken me a year to get this close to 100k.. the fact that i'm almost at 100k means i have no life apparently.

It's taken me longer to get from 70k to 92k than it took me to get from 0 to 50k.

Is that cos you play less now or a general trend towards 'Cheeves getting harder?

I'm on my way towards 30k which I guess I'll probably hit sometime over the chrimbo games rush.

Although I'm no "Score Whore" I was actually thinking about this the other day. My next target - if you can call it that - is 5K which'll take a while going on current form. I also calculated that to get anywhere near VA or Ben (i.e. 50K) would take about 15 years; to catch up with Wolfie (95K)will take me to retirement age!

Or just because there are feck all decent games left which you haven't hit 1000G on yet?

Personally, I went through a stage of really wanting achievment points, aiming for 10,000G. But, after hitting that milestone the score doesn't really bother me anymore.

These days I go for certain more interesting achievments if they put a bit of a different angle on or add extra challenges to a game, but I couldn't really give two hoots about my overall score.

I play less now than i did, Cheeve's are a little harder than when the 360 was first released i guess, but at the same time.. i'm chasing after 100k, but i'm not really chasing after it if you know what i mean?!

I want it, but i'm not playing for the achievements anymore.

Sometimes i've have a bash for a day or so for achievements but genereally i can't be bothered with bad games just for points anymore, there's 4-5 games on my list recently that i've finished or gone past the first 2-3 levels cause i don't want to play a bad game.

The achievements I hate are the ones that force you to play the game again. For example, Fallout 3 or Mass Effect or the first DLC for Force Unleashed which made me cry with frustration.
I like ones that allow you to go back after the game is ended to find stuff and finish off little quests. Elder Scrolls IV ftw. Prince of Persia was ok, making up for the bullshlakh of Assassins Creed.

Agreed.

The achievments in DiRT 2 are great. Most are possible by just playing through once whilst the others just require completion of fairly difficult but fun tasks.
