The Shoot dodge isnt always the right tool for the job, if there isnt the space then you'll just keep smashing into the walls or objects & keep failing,
sometimes its best to use your bullet time from within cover.

I find if you look about the environment gives you a few nods as to how each section could be played out.

The thing i'm finding slightly annoying is he keeps changing his bloody weapons after a cutscene!?, why cant he remember what he was holding!!!

It wouldn't be a problem if he always dived where you told him.

Agreed about the guns, the spanner can't even walk through a door without switching back to pistol.
If in doubt, put the kettle on.

That or he is constantly losing the ones you save for him too.

Agreed with CT also, controls can be arkward. That said ill respectfully disagree with him about the dialogue, its best ive heard since Red Dead. Then again CT, is there any game where you thought it was well written? (i would honestly like to know)

Yer the narrative throughout the game is brilliant, maybe not in the context of pulp fiction, but its perfect for MP.

I also like the way I never thought, ohh shut up Max, he very very rarely spurts the same lines and considering how many times I've jabbed at that retry button, that's a serious achievement.

That's one of my biggest annoyances on video games, repeated dialogue.

I hated Enslaved, but the dialogue was excellent. The PoP reboot. Psychonauts. Assassin's Creed 2.

Dialogue now, not story, as Psychonauts apart, they was poor. Whereas Max Payne's story isn't that bad.
If in doubt, put the kettle on.

But dont you think in context of Max's character, his situation & the setting the narration of this game is perfect?, I love the way Max doesn't really swear in the game,
the only time he does is when shit really kick off or he's double crossed, made me feel like Max was a man who wasn't at home in this situation, he's a family man, a good cop,
naturally a nice guy, all this shit has been thrust upon him, he's one of gaming greatest characters i think.

Exactly...the dialogue is meant to be Chandler-esque surely? Thought it was quite similar to Marvs dioalogue in Sin City. And he doesnt repeat stuff very often, like you say.

IMO Hes a HBO character compared to most videogame leads.

Enslaved had a good script though. Indeed.

I wasn't a fan of Enslaved's story that much, considering it pretty much ignored the source material it was supposed to be based on, but the characterisation was bang on.

I thought Monkey & Trips relationship & the way they handled that was brilliant, seemed very genuine, sometimes it wasn't even the dialog it was just a look
and Pigsy was a show stealer.

Enslaved's script was written by Alex Garland. I agree with Clown, it bemuses me why more developers don't use real script writers, especially on AAA games. They use enough film composers so why not script writers?

So what's the verdict? Flash in the pan? Must have? Bargain bucket?

Good game, quite fun, good atmosphere.

SHIT SCRIPT. Going to the toilet was like the ice on a blood-soaked knife. I plunged my poo into the water like death on a motorbike. I wiped like my ass was made of bullets and ballet. My trousers then raised like so much dead ants. It sucks to be me in this dark city.
If in doubt, put the kettle on.
