Dan Howdle wrote:I think it's brilliant. It sounds like a graphic novel. Like Watchmen or Wanted. It's not a movie-style script, it's supposed to be comic book. I respectfully disagree and suggest that it accomplishes that excellently.

Mebbe. To me it sounds like someone trying to do Hammett or Chandler having only ever seen Hale & Pace do parodies of same, or maybe the odd Dick Tracey cartoon in the 80s. That line about not being able to tell good from evil clunked like Dr. Clunky and the Clunking All Stars.

Overall it leads me to continue to believe that games developers should swallow their pride and hire real scriptwriters.
If in doubt, put the kettle on.

OK... I'm now getting frustrated. A dozen Mg and shotgun wielding, armour wearing soldiers have turned up in the Branco offices and I'm repeatedly gettin nailed with no chance of taking them all out.

Been trying this for the last 2 hours and it stopped being a challenge and became fucking annoying 1/2 hour ago.

Keep diving anti-clockwise around the outside of the room, poppsing headshots ONLY as you go. You'll get there. I've done this second try on Old School difficulty, it's all about technique. This is one of those points in the game that teaches you the true importance of shootdodge.

If I could aim straight that might work...

Just don't sit in cover; there's no way to win that way. They will rape you every time.

Sounds like the car park bit in the first game, minus the Jack Hammer.

I don't think it would solve the problem. If it were as simple as just hiring a 'real' scriptwriter then devs would've been doing it years ago.

Looking forward to getting on this over the weekend.

The thing to do like Dan said is stay on the outer walkway area & dive from left to right just use headshots & only get into cover when you're on the deck & you need to
get to you feet quick, reload then start diving again.

The real problem is when you kill those 7 or 8 guys & one REALLY heavily armored fcuker walks in!!!...

Quick tip, the guy who walks out before that room, from behind the counter?, take his shotgun & save it for the heavily armored dude at the end of the next room.

Thank god that's done... On to the next frustrating moment.

Edit:

Which was the lobby and the big armoured dude... Oddly, I found that part a lot easier than the previous bit in the server room that I struggled with.

Not frustrating bit, difficult, testing, challenging, we've become so acustom to just walking through games, or saving evertime we make an inch of progress that when something comes along that pushes you & takes a few attempts we. All lose our minds!.

None of this is directed at you Pale, but what's the rush?.put the controller down no ones timing you, enjoy it.
This is where so many reviews went wrong.

Agree with your every word, Holly.

It's especially the case with reviewers because they work to deadlines, so if they can't get through it quickly, they get frustrated and lower their score. So few reviewers, in my opinion, gave this game enough time, took it at a slow enough pace, to truly savour all that it does.

Which it why I completed it nearly three times for the sake of my review. Overkill? Maybe. Doing my fucking job? Definitely. The same cannot be said for most of the reviews I've read, and the funny thing is, it's really, really obvious, once you know the game, who has played it all the way through and who has played 3 hours of it, found it difficult to adjust to from the cushy, easy games we're used to, then written a review before they even half 'get it'. Before it clicks.

I did... I went out and mowed the lawn before coming back at it. I'm a bit miffed at missing a couple of gun pieces though. Looks like I'm gonna have to do another play through. I might even attempt it on "Old School" if I can avoid giving myself a coronary.

Old School is by far the best fun that can be had with the game. Hard, but every inch gained feels like a major achievement and because pain pills have to be manually administered and they are not taken away for Last Man Standing (because it doesn't exist), I often found myself reaching the end of a level with the maximum nine pain pills still unused. You just become used to being extra, extra cautious, and it is, in my opinion, an even better game for it.

I think i'm with Pale on this, old school might cause me to break out the defibrillator!...

I still havent finished the main story yet, but once I have I'll see how old school is in Arcade mode, is there a harder setting than that?.

I still love the way this game makes you play totally against the way you've been programmed to play. I was down to a hand gun with a few clips
hardly no health & sitting in cover high up on a walkway with 4 guys firing at me, the inbuilt gamer wants to stay there & try to survive which got
me killed everytime but jumping out into the air taking them all out before I hit the floor with every bullet spent & barely alive gives you such a rush!.

Makes the chest high walled shooting galleries of Mass Effect, Uncharted & Gears seem like a game of dominoes with your granddad.

I think ye're being a little over kind. I agree wholeheartedly with the old school stuff, but it is marred slightly by iffy controls (jumping around the narrow dock level in the jungle was a pain in the arse) and at-times dodgy hit detection.
If in doubt, put the kettle on.
