Metal Gear Solid HD Collection

Postby hollywooda on Tue Jan 24, 2012 12:42 pm

Accept the mission and play three great chapters in the Metal Gear franchise with the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection. Included are Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. All three games are rendered in high-definition for the first time!

MGS 2: Players take the role of a one-man army determined to stop a deadly high-tech weapon from falling into the hands of a highly elite resistance group known as Dead Cell. Playwers must utilize their skills in stealth, weaponry, and counter-terrorism to fight off the competing powers. Progress through a twisting storyline and eventually face the gigantic war machine, Metal Gear Ray.

MGS 3: In the struggle to achieve world peace and world dominance in the Cold War period, rivaling governments are secretly developing weapons technology that could threaten the future existence of life. Destined to be the first, a race ensues to become the ultimate nation. A special elite tactical soldier is summoned to penetrate deep in the heart of enemy territory and obtain Intel about "Metal Gear", a prototype weapon with nuclear capabilities. This is your mission and you must infiltrate alone. As "Naked Snake," you must outsmart enemies with camouflage, close-quarters combat, stalking, interrogating, climbing, hunting and treating injuries in this critical chapter of the Metal Gear saga.

MGS Peace Walker: The era is the 1970s. Big Boss has stations his "Soldiers without Borders" in Columbia, South America, where he was approached by a visitor from Costa Rica, "a Nation without a Military.) In the wake of the Cuban Missile Crisis, a mysterious armed force seemed to be engaging in suspicious activities. Players take control of the famed Naked Snake at a critical junction in modern history. Advanced co-operative techniques allows multiple players to sneak into the fray and accomplish this mission together.

I'm still not a 100% sold on this, I'm a huge Metal Gear fan, But having a Metal Gear Collection without Metal Gear Solid!? feels like buying the Star Wars trilogy
without A New Hope?.

But it is getting very good reviews & is going for about 24 quid, so I think its gotta be done.

Raiden.. he broke my heart, i remember playing the demo for MGS2 that came with ZOE, it was fucking awesome, waiting for the full game was like counting every second.
Then he turns up & shits all over my dream with his girly feminine frame & peroxide blonde locks that wouldn't look out of place in Made in Essex.

But having said that the game is still a very well made game, even if the story starts to go like a very bad acid trip towards the end, I look forward to playing it again,
especially the first 40mins :(

Indeed.. I remember the reveal that the big orange oil rig/platform thing you where noncing around on as Raiden was *Spoiler*a metal gear*spoiler* and thinking.. oh my god.. total toss.

I doubt that MGS would scrub up in HD dude..

It does however include Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2 from the old MSX days I believe.

Yer I've always wanted to play the old MSX games so thats a good bonus, bit pissed that the PS3 version comes with a code to download the original MGS off the PSN?
I dont know though if that's just the collectors edition?.

But they should of redone Twin Snakes, that was an awesome game, i think Hideo doesn't like it because its not under his Kojami company name, control freak!.

I'll be getting this eventually but not at the moment. Since Mass Effect is just round the corner I'm not buying anything else at the moment, plus I have no cash anyway. I'll be getting it on PS3 anyway so I might as well just pick it up in the summer when I can play it again.

Really want to play this though. MGS2 and 3 are two of my favourite games ever and I loved what I played of Peace Walker. Would have been nice to include Twin Snakes though, especially since it's really hard to find now.

I have all the MGS games, even AC!D 1 & 2, dont ask me why.. haha.

But I 'am looking forward to playing through them again, I've played Metal Gear Solid recently and thats still amazing, I hope the rest of them hold up as well.
Also I think they've been given the full 360 camera now like Splinter cell or MGS4 so that should make playing them much easier & more intuitive, playing MGS3 on that old
fixed camera was a pain!.

Good good, I can finally get around to finishing Snake Eater so, I ended up getting stuck on The Sorrow and traded it. Then I looked up how to beat him and it was a typical Japanese game. Take a random pill...
