Yet at the same time exactly the same.

Resident evil has changed, so should the mechanics of it. It sucks now, the gameplay sucks now, it's not scary or tense, it's not good. In the trailer the voiceover actually says something like "70,000 hostiles", which was exactly where you could count me out. I liked when in Resi you were scared of 1 hostile, not machine gunning your way (Or as the trailer shows fucking roadie running) through hordes of them.

It'll get 6/10 across the board if not lower, it'll look pretty. It won't play well. Anyone with any sense won't buy it and and anyone with slightly less sense will forget it after a week of playing it.

Yer the fixed shooting worked when the games where made in an isometric view because u could see where the enemy was coming from and didn't constantly get spammed by zombies behind you, you can't bloody see!!!.

But sadly gotta agree with gug, Resident evil isn't scary anymore they've killed off all the good things and kept all
The shit things, like having to go into two menus to load a weapon.

If you nay sayers could leave this thread and go back to That's What I Call Medal of Battlefield Generic Shooter 1942 part 3: Shite Warfare that would be great.

Indeed, I have zero interest in Resident Evil, but it does what it does - you want Gears of War, well play Gears of War then.
If in doubt, put the kettle on.

You may or not like the Dead Space games, but there controls and interface are much, much better than Resi Evil which are still stuck in the last gen. There is nothing that I have seen or played of this gen Resi Evil that has convinced me that much has changed.

That's as maybe but without Resident Evil 4 there'd be no Dead Space.

There's every chance Resident Evil 6 could be as radical a change to the genre as 4 was.

I enjoyed 5. They tried something new with the african setting and the co-op.. it didn't quite work but at least they're trying something different to..

EA exec: "let's make a Resident Evil clone, but we'll need to do something a bit different with it"
EX exec2: "well redefining the genre can go to fuck.. lets just set it in ... SPACE!!"

You clearly have no idea what you are talking about and have completely lost the plot.

Dead Space brought plenty of new things to the genre.

Resi Evil was once a great gaming series and there is no doubt on it's influence on gaming today. But it has lost its way in recent years and has much to improve for a lot of people to get back on board.

Name one thing that Dead Space brought?

Good HUD, I'll give it that.. but didn't really re-invent the genre in the same way that Resi 4 did, did it now? ;)

You're so far over the line the line is a dot to you.

Would the anti-gravity count?

I never really saw Resi 4 as re-inventing a genre more re-inventing a franchise.

How do you think Resi 6 could re-invent the franchise? Mikami and co are no longer on board.

I wouldn't want gears resident evil, I just think they need to admit and fix their old broken mechanics & get back to being scary!!!.

Resi evil 5 just didn't work for me, the co op, the setting the gameplay it felt as far removed from resident evil as you can get, in a very bad way.

I just want a solid gritty, survival horror game that doesn't play like a static boring firing range, dead space stole resi evils crown, they need to step up if they want it back.

Bob on there Eli.

I never did say DS reinvented the genre, but things like the HUD, anti-gravity and dismemberment gave the genre a good needed kick up the arse.

Capcom need to take a good hard look at Dead Space 1 for how to balance their action with horror. Oh, and how to control an over-the-shoulder viewpoint. I'm a mega Resident Evil fan and whilst I did have a lot of fun with RE5 (co op only) it was very quickly becoming a parody... the days of survival horror have gone right out of the window.
If it's a good game, then it's a good game. But Resident Evil has changed forever and it's sad. That trailer looks absolute gash and wouldn't be out of place before a Michael Bay movie at the cinemas. But I must....reserve...judgement

Watched the trailer. Looks naff. Same old, same old. Obviously not aimed at me though.

Yep. They sure do that alright.

"Resident Evil: Attracting CoD fans 'the dream,' says Capcom. 'Action route makes sense'"

If I wanna play COD I'll play COD. I don't wanna COD rip-off because they're never as good as COD.
