I was super excited for this. Rayman rivals Mario in both the 2D and 3D platformer scenes as far as I'm concerned. But after playing the demo, Origins seems so clunky and I couldn't get on with it at all. I really need to give it another go though.
This could be my next rental game, as I fancy something really different from what I normally play and nothing too time sinky. 360 seem to like it. It will either be this or Sonic.

I think my problem with Origins is I've been playing so much Sonic that Origins seems slow and clunky by comparison, when in actuality there's nothing wrong with it. I'm going to re-download the demo and give it another go.
I'm definetly going to check this out in the next couple of weeks, it'll be a nice little break between all the awesome FPS games that are out at the moment.
It's been getting pretty good reviews across the board really.
I'm not ashamed to do a complete 180: Rayman Origins is one of the most stunningly beautiful, perfectly executed, challenging but fair, nigh-on flawless games I've ever played, even though the Wii version's visuals aren't as sharp as its 360/PS3 counterparts.
I'll have a review up in a few days, for now all I will say is - in absolute seriousness - I know people mock me a lot for playing "shit" games (i.e. games that aren't on anyone's radar, most of the time), but if you don't play Rayman Origins then you're doing yourself a genuine disservice as a gamer. This is easily a top-3 contender for game of the year.
Just gave this a quick blast, played through the first 4-5 levels. it looks pretty, plays well and sounds good but i've just got a feeling that i've had enough of platformers now, they just don't seem to excite me anymore, i played so many of them in the 80's and 90's.
i'm not in anyway saying this is a bad game it isn't it's pretty decent and i will try and play through it until the end, i think i'm just a bit jaded when it comes to platformers these days
It's pretty standard stuff to start with, but by the time you're halfway through you can attack, hover, swim and run up walls and the level design gets brilliantly intricate and challenging to make full use of your new abilities. I advise you stick with it.

This.
May give the demo a go but platformers were something great when I was a kid, now they don't seem to have the charm they once did. The whole genre's best left as a good memory methinks.

gave the game another blast today and it turned into a 2 hour session which i wasn't expecting. enjoyed it a lot more than i did the other day and will stick with it until the end, won't be bothering with going back to unlock everything though will just play til the end me thinks.
it definetly does get more interesting when you unlock more abilities VA
it does look gorgeous and it's worth a playthrough for the awesome music in the under water levels alone, i was smiling all the way through that section just because of the music.
overall it is an awesome game but i'm still a bit stick of platformers for the mo but glad i have played it.
Had a long go yesterday and it's still brilliant. Hoping to play more tonight and finish it tomorrow, then get the review up on Thursday at the latest. I love this game and I don't think I've ever looked forward to writing anything this much. Ever.
I just killed the big golum dude and unlocked the next series of levels, worked through one of them and the fairy at the end told me i needed 70 more whatever they're called emototoons or something to inlock the level. there is no way i'm going to get that many, no way.
I think i'll play as much as i can for the moment then keep it in my pile for when i want a quick blast of something.
how much do you like this game really VA? like 15 out of 10?
