We need to learn when to say "enough", rather than gluttonously devouring more and more of the same thing through sheer force of habit.

I've bought this. Once I play it (probably not till November), expect me to be back on this thread ranting about how shitty retro gameplay choices are not necessarily a good thing.

(Either that or I'll don a beret and announce snootily how everyone complaining about it "just doesn't get it")
If in doubt, put the kettle on.

What's not to get?

Even the newspaper reviewers have a handle on what this game is.

Apologies if the last part of your post is an outstanding in-house joke.

All reviewers seem to think this is the bees knees but they do play games for a living so the extreme difficulty will appeal.

It's the sort of game that is right up my street. I'm just not wanting to get annoyed and frustrated at a game. I do that enough at work. So I may pass at this.

Got this this morning, been on for about an hour. Thought I was doing quite well because I hadn't died and felt properly smug for it, then I find a secret area with a ton of treasure and accidently slide down a small cliff and get mauled by a load of skeletons. Ah well try again.

Just picked up Demon's Souls on the PS3, might as well play that first, then I'll pick this up after.

The redeem code giving access to the digital content also includes a bonus map. I had to open the box if nothing else.

Not in-house, just poor. There was an element of Demon Souls players who sneered at anyone who thought it was too hard. It has a fan element that is mighty odd.
If in doubt, put the kettle on.

Just had a crack on Demon's Souls and cleared the first level. Wasn't too tough but presumably that's because it's the first level :)

Should be a stroll in the park compared to walking the streets of Scotland at night.

Fuck me this is tough but taking down a boss or hitting a new bonfire really does give a sense of progress.

Well, I've only played it for a little bit and I've made a few obs.

1) It stutters quite badly, which would necessitate an install
2) The character is about as heavy as a tank
3) It's a bit hard
4) Alright, it's chuffing hard
5) I'm finding it hard to actually get into it and find it fun.

Over joyed at finally killing the first boss... :D then realise... that's only the first boss. :(

Great game so far, though, just want to get back to it after giving it a break.
