Tomb Raider E3 Trailer - Release Date Confirmed! Exclusive!

Postby Bob on Fri Jun 01, 2012 11:13 am

Tomb Raider launches on 5th March 2013 for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, Square Enix has announced.

Confirmation comes from the game's E3 2012 trailer, below. It shows Crystal Dynamics' battered and bruised and younger Lara Croft escape from a tight spot before emerging into a world of hell on a tropical island. She is seen hunting for food using a bow and arrow and fending off animals before she is captured and tortured.

This is the first Tomb Raider game I've wanted in a long long time. It looks like a genuine useful re-imagining.

Certainly intrigued by this. Hope it's less scripted than it comes across because this has some serious potential.

I'm looking forward to getting to know Lara as a character and not just a big titted avatar.

Dante is right though before she was just basically the novelty JRPG character with a serious rack so you'd have something to look at in cutscenes but no where near interesting or compelling enough to tie a game together.

No he's not and no she wasn't.

You've only got to look at all the games that followed the trend and thought that was her appeal that bombed to see that.

She's practically the same as Nathan Drake. Just goes to show how sexist the gaming community is, if you put a pair of tits on something it instantly loses all character

It wasn't her appeal it was simply the fact the games accompanying her name and image were complete and utter tripe.

Exactly. She never truly developed further than a patchwork avatar of what young boys find 'hot'. Posh English accent, big knockers and a careless attitude to covering up her modesty. It is of my OPINION that she would be more appealing with actual depth and character, you don't have to agree or disagree/ think I'm right or wrong.

No, The first four games on PSone are all stone cold classics which is why she's an enduring legend that they're still making games about now.

There's no doubt Lara's apperance was a design descision aimed and targeting a certain audience of the time.

The lads mags like loaded and the days of that lads culture were everywhere and she was a product of it

But having said that I still think she had a strong identity and was more than a set of overscaled polygons,
Like Bob said she was an icon of the times and we forget now just how big her tits were... I mean she was... Sorry.

Calling the earlier games tripe is just plain wrong.
