The new scoring system would be a lot more interesting if there were any games in this month's issue that were my sort of thing. Still, there's not a lot you can do about that. Personally, I liked the 5-star system just because it was a little different from the norm, but I guess marks out of 10 has become standard. Visually the score looks a bit dull - just a load of dots in a row. It doesn't matter, in the grand scheme of things, but a better look might give the score a bit more impact. Why not just have the number as the right hand side of the Reviewing Experience Graph, instead of the "Play this if you liked ..." (which could go somewhere else) and leave out the little pips altogether? Then you'll have your score and your playing experience graph all in one nice neat box - it feels to me as though they belong together. While I'm at it, the graph is a bit dull too - it could do with something to make it stand out, although I'm not sure what - a bit more colour, perhaps?

I was interested to read your views on Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. A decent hack-and-slash RPG is always going to get my attention so I'm pleased to see it's showing promise.

I must admit I liked the 5 star system since you can give a game 5 stars and still say it has some issues. I call bullshit on any magazine that scores a game 10/10. That implies its pretty close to perfection.
Could be worse, places with a 100 point system score games at 98%. Ridiculous.

The 5 star system was one of the reasons I originally bought the magazine and I thought Dan was actually firm on that rating as being more fair. 10 star allows people to have different middle grounds and means I'm more likely to sit on the fence about a game than actually know whether it is north or south of 3 stars.

Dont think it makes much difference myself, the text of the review is the important thing, the score is just an approximated summary of the text.
