FOR THE MAG: E3 2011 Press Conferences

Postby SuperHans on Fri Jun 03, 2011 10:05 am

Morning all.

Right, E3 is only a few days away and the rumour mill is running at full speed. Without going too far into specifics, I'd like to know who you think will "win" the great press conference war: Nintendo, Sony, or Microsoft? Or, if you're feeling controversial, will it be another company altogether?

In addition, please leave a few thoughts as to what each company needs to show gamers to win their favour, and why you feel each one will succeed or fail.

Many thanks. I look forward to your responses.

Yeah, I reckon M$ too. All the bad PR for Sony lately will play against them. Nintendo? meh.

I think that along with the reveal of their new console, Nintendo will have a lot of surprise 3DS announcements at E3. If that's the case then they'll steal the show for sure. Especially as Sony will have a lot of making up to do and Microsoft by all accounts will be all about Kinect this year.

Rubbish. 3DS has just about got as close to bombing as it's possible to get in the modern age.

Project Cafe should be exciting but it's basically just bringing them up to date.. so it's not really new and I very much doubt they'll pull off them same trick again.

I reckon there will be a single game from a third-party that will make me ignore every other game on show.

As I have no clue to the line up I'm really just guessing and hoping!

I really couldn't give a monkey's about this overblown load of dung. I'll watch what ever video they put on the dash and that will do me.

The more he spoke, the worse he got. Now he's mute again I predict big awesomeness.

It's selling well, plus it's still early days, hence the lack of games. It's not like the Xbox or Xbox 360 had an over abundance of games in their first 6 months. At E3 Nintendo will show off and/or announce a ton of great 3DS games, mark my words. Plus the eShop is available from either Monday or Tuesday, which will bring with it some awesome stuff both old and new.

No it's not. PSP is out selling it in Japan. By an extra third.

The best bit will be a man in suit pretending to like games and swinging some sort of motion controller and saying things like "No sleep for the wicked .... The wicked awesome!!"*

EDIT: Now that I've actually seen the E3 footage, the above seemed to be a bit optimistic. A little hopeful. The real thing was far, far worse. I am horrified. Does anyone who makes the devices on which we play games pay any attention to what we actually might want on those devices, rather than "what fad can I sell lots of in the next month"?
If in doubt, put the kettle on.

The Saturn did that to the Playstation for quite a while.
And we all know how that turned out.
