LIMBO

Postby BenX360 on Thu Jul 22, 2010 12:16 pm

I can find a LIMBO thread around here, so here's my tuppence:

It wins full marks for style, that subtle and disturbing melancholic tone is original and the gameplay reminds me of classic 8-bit adventures. Like a dark, linear Dizzy game, I suppose. Only one real problem I have with it so far (I haven't finished it yet): because it is linear, if you get stumped by a puzzle you can't turn around and move down a different path to try another angle, then come back to the original puzzle with a fresh perspective. Playdead has effectively doged this by creating as imaginitive and inspiring a series of problems as possible, rather than focusing on increasingly devious invention. But the one time I did get stuck, it was really frustrating.

Anyway, well worth the 1200 points.

What is the story in it?
I just bought some Sainsburys sausages, there's a
picture of Jamie oliver on the front, on the back it says "p r i c k with a
fork."Can't argue with that!

What's the length like? I've been hearing it's considerably shorter than other games you could buy for the price.

I've heard about 3-4 hours. However, based on the trial, it would seem like an unforgettable 3-4 hours.

Imma pick it up soon.

The story seems to be about some sort of near-death/post-death experience. Clues in the name.
Check out the flash game 'Coma' on Newgrounds for a similar sort of experience.

I've played the Demo and got really addicted, the atmosphere, ambient sounds, graphic style and neat platforming come together well.

I'm buying this!

Sounds good and has gotten lots of praise. Don't think I can download the demo with my Silver Live account though :(

I suppose that's open to interpretation - at least according to the same people who surmised that Braid was about the creation of the atomic bomb. I'm near the end and I still think it's about a kid who's trying to rescue his sister from limbo.

Just as long as you don't spend it on Blacklight... I'd cry if I'd paid for that gubbins.
