Anybody sacked off MW3 already like me?

Postby biron_w on Tue Feb 21, 2012 12:33 am

Just wondering.
I traded it for Kingdoms of Amalur. Due to the fact it's utter toss online. I really am at a loss as to how IW could feck it up so much :?

I played it for something like 13 hours straight when it first came out, then was bored of it.
Strange because I played MW2 for months and months and months without getting bored.

I've only played half of the single player but I enjoyed what I played. However, it doesn't feel anywhere near as intense or exciting as Call of Duty 4 did and even though I'm enjoying it it just doesn't hook me really. There's no real flow, it just feels like a bunch of unrelated set pieces one after the other.

As or the multiplayer, even though I haven't played it, I've never really played the multiplayer in any Call of Duty very often. This time, though, I had very little incentive of playing it (Besides locally, cos that's pretty damn fun!). I think I'm just getting sick of it now.

This is the quickest i've got bored of a COD game. There's just nothing new in it,half of the stuff is copy & pasted from MW2 and the netcode and lag compensator is utterly shocking.

Black Ops killed it for me, it was so utterly terrible.

And Elite seems to be doing badly, so it wouldn't surprise me if it has peaked. Bring on the new king - no way this one will get flabby and lazy over a shortish period of success is there?
If in doubt, put the kettle on.

I know quite a few die hard CoD fans who gave up on MW3 just after chrimbo.

They all got hooked on Skyrim instead.

I got that feeling as soon as MW2 came along...

My friend got this on release and I played it for about an hour. This game easily could have been an expansion pack.

A bit late to the party, but here goes.

Firstly I'll have to admit to being generally a COD /MW fanatic. The story on MW3 was whilst still on the very short side, a step back in the right direction in that at least on Veteran difficulty there were moments (only a few) where it offered up a bit of a challenge. Nothing like the random unlimited supply of grenades that was WAW, but even so, it was nice to be slighlty challenged on what is after all suposed to be the hardest setting.

As for the multiplayer, I have to say I'm loving it, so far I've put in 97 hours online, and still not bored. However I do have a gripe, I paid up £34 (I think thats what it cost) for Elite membership which was to include 22 pieces of DLC. The problem I have had is that in January they gave us 2 new maps, February 1 new map, then March 1 new map + 2 Spec Ops missions, these were exclusive at the time to elite members only, but I normally only play 'hardcore' on COD / MW because I personally find you get less of the 'idiots' (though slightly more campers). The issue being that if you wanted to play these new maps they were only available on 'normal', well I played them just to see what they were like, but went straight back to 'hardcore' thus missing out on the benefit of having these maps early. It is only now as a 'map pack' dlc has become available to everyone that it has become available in 'hardcore' mode, I'm guessing that this is a problem that will be repeated over the coming months. Okay I know it hasn't dampened my enthusiasm for MW3, but as it stands, I probably won't being paying for elite again, instead just buy the packs as they become available to everyone.

You were correct JS, i played for 20 odd hours then i just got hooked by Skyrim instead. Its mainly a timing thing, Skyrim, ME3, Kingdoms of Amalur, etc are just too tempting.

As i see it MW3 is a fine game but its 2 things that MP Blops has over it. 1) BLOPS maps are better and its the maps that make the game. b) it isnt half as punishing online which makes it more addictive. MW3 is so tough when you havent played for a while or are new that its off-putting. Kinda like the way FIFA has got better and better but its less attractive to play now as its so much more complicated to pick up.

However, I expect when things calm down ill go back to CoD. Ill just have to do it in a big block dso i dont fall outta practice.

The game drives me wild like all the other COD's, I think I traded mine in after a week of release, I like my FPS MP's but COD is where I draw the line.
