Completion Times

Postby Devilitico on Sat May 08, 2010 1:11 pm

I think it would be really helpful if reviews mentioned roughly how long it takes to complete a game. As a working father of three, I only get a couple of hours gaming every night. One consideration I have when buying games is how much time I need to invest in them, for instance despite loving Mass Effect, I've not got the sequel yet, as I still have Dragon Age and loads of other games to play. A quick idea of how much time is needed for each game would be most helpful and I'm sure other people are in the same boat as me and would agree.

Having said that, my son doesn't give a monkeys, he plays Modern Warfare 2 intravenously.

That is the best and most sensible idea I have seen posted here since this one.

That is a good idea actually. That graph they put in every review is utterly useless. The time played is always 8 hours. What about the other 29 hours it took me to complete Dragon Age Origins? Or the other god-knows-how-many hours I spent on Fallout 3?

Devilitico, you're my new favourite forum member. Sorry Bob, you've been relegated to second favourite.

We need to learn when to say "enough", rather than gluttonously devouring more and more of the same thing through sheer force of habit.

I can tell you that Dead Space takes about 10 hours. Hope that helps.

That'll help me. On what difficulty setting though?

I bought this 2nd hand about 6 months ago and so far have played it for about 1/2 hour before being distracted by other games...

I loved the intro but have to try and play it when the kids aren't about and so it got shoved to one side...

I really ought to give Dark Void a proper go too...

I can tell you the last checkpoint of the last proper mission of the Splinter Cell: Conviction co-op campaign when played by a cack handed gamer with a non-english speaking japanese person of reasonable ability (reasonable compared to Hollywooda anyway) is 1 hour and ten minutes.. does that help? I can also tell you you'll of learnt the little speach at the beginning of by heart.

Well if we in competition I can tell you you can get to level 50 in Forza 3 in 24 days.

Fallout 3 took me 8 days so I concur with MEEXSY.

Agreed, it would be useful to know the time.

But generally FPS take 6-10 hours to do SP campaign.

Sandbox games like Crackdown take about a 30 hours (Though JC2 is feckin huge).

Fallout is king though, 80 hours play and not even found everywhere yet. Id marry that game if it wasnt illegal and twisted.

Twisted maybe, but illegal? Nah. As long as you don't mind being looked down on I'd say go ahead.

I'll be a witness if you like.
