games and real life

Postby jonnym on Sun Oct 18, 2009 6:44 am

i was wondering if anyone, after playing a game , starts thinking like they're still in the game. for example: after playing red faction guerilla every time i saw edf ( the energy company) i thought earth defence force! time to throw some remote charges or after assasins creed, looking at a building and trying to find a way to climb up it to get an edge on an asssasinationor even after playing mass afect looking for places to take cover and whip out an assault rifel off my back. does anybody else do this? if so i'd love to hear instances of this as i could only come up with 3. please tell me im not crazy.

I used to look for glowing green orbs hovering above tall buildings.

Jonny your not crazy. Me and my mates used to play tony hawks 1 on PS when I was about 16. Then we'd get outside and think we could now do smithys and kickflips to tail grinds. It was the cause many bruised limbs.

You have waaaaaayyyyyy to much time on your hands

I can remember looking for places to do kickflips and grinds etc, but that had nothing to do with Tony Hawks. (I'm much better than him anyway ...)

After COD4 took over things for a couple of weeks I'd be looking for cover everywhere.

And we don't even want to talk about Lemmings.
If in doubt, put the kettle on.

I remember after playing Shadow Complex for too long, and this is weird, I felt like I was still in a side scroller if that makes sense? Like I couldn't turn diagonally or anything like that, just back and forth. I think its about the only time you'd hear me say "videogames are bad for you health." Seriously, I thought I was going crazy. I was fine and back to normal the next day though. :D

I might still have it somewhere if anyone's interested...Or I might be making the whole thing up...

Jesus meex were you playing that in the air raid shelter at the end of your garden.

We need to learn when to say "enough", rather than gluttonously devouring more and more of the same thing through sheer force of habit.

Something about how my Anderson shelter didn't have mains electricity, just the single candle that we hadn't eaten to keep the cold and damp at bay?

Sorry to disappoint, but us "Gerry's" didn't bother with air raid shelters...they wouldn't have done much good anyway, seeing as you lot levelled our cities...But as my dear old granny used to say, "Zumindest gibt's reichlich Bratwurst jetzt"
