360 forum Top 5 Games Creators/Director's of all time

I bet most people couldn't name more than 5 game creators..

Still I'll have a crack when I get to work.

In no particular order:

- Shaeffer (for Monkey Island, which made me smile)
- Garriott (for Ultima, which sucked my life out for months)
- Carmack / Romero (Doom Doom Doom comin out the back door)
- Molyneux (for Populous and Fable II and his weird-uncle-who-hangs-around-the-party-just-a-little-too-long look)
- Eric Matthews and cohorts (for services to the art of not making a bad game)

Yer Solid Snake and Mario whoopsies can naff off.

5. Tim Shaeffer - I loved Pyschonauts and Grim Fandango.
4. Shinji Mikami - Resident Evil and lets not forget God Hand
3. Sid Meier - Some awesome flight sims and stratergy games in this mans CV.
2. Richard and David Darling - Codemasters.. Need I really say more?
1. Davd Braben - Elite.. Possibly the greatest game ever written.

Lol.. well I didn't really like The Sims either.. But I should probably have included Sid Meier who made all the good games for Mircoprose.

Meier is Civ

Wright is Sim City.

In a face off Meier would win.

SimCity is one of my favorite games. Spore ain't. He doesn't make the list.

In no special order:

-Lorne Lanning ( He's a great artist, designer, writer and voice actor, all of which have made the Oddworld series unique and brilliant)
-Molyneux (I love every game he has made but Populous and Fable II are the real standouts for me. Plus Milo on the way!)
-Dough Church (He made Thief, one of my all time favorites as well as Deus Ex and System Shock, which are up there too)
-Jordan Thomas (Another that goes back to Looking Glass, he has done some great work in games including the Shalebridge Cradle from Thief 3 and Fort Frolic in Bioshock)
-Hironobu Sakaguchi (Final Fantasy duh, though it saddens me isn't involved in FF13, since he left after 10 to set up Mistwalker which made the fantastic Lost Odyssey)

I thought about putting in Fumito Ueda, Ken Levine, Dave Jones or Joseph Staten but I was only allowed five so I went for some diversity.

This guy Doug Church looks like he's worked on some of the best games ever made.

I've not thought about it that much yet...

It's just that whenever "Elite" crops up, everyone remembers Braben but seems to forget about Bell...

Off the top of my head right now I'd have to mention the Gollop brothers. Rebelstar, Laser squad and X-com...

Does that count as 2 or 1? (I once met Julian at a LaserSquad Nemesis meet down in Oxford I'm a real geek)



Oh yeah, and Team 17... Though I dunno who they consisted of or even if it was several different people over several games.
