Oh ok. Short version is there are too many generic white guys as protagonists of games.
And when they try to use someone else, it just turns out crappy/stereotype/or mixed race to appease complainers eg Altair.

Good post but this kind of inadvertent discrimination extends not just to race, but to gender aswell as midgets

It doesn't really bother me about race, unless it's inappropriate, e.g a game set in ancient japan where you play as an American dude but just the sheer amount of uninspired characters. GoW, KZ, GRAW, etc. all have you playing as generic characters, its not that they are white its just that they are so uninteresting, they have no depth or make any contribution to the story through their character, their all just gung-ho matcho men killing foreigners, monsters, aliens etc. Sam Fisher, Garret, Solid Snake, are just some examples of "white male" characters that avoid the cliche's and generic ideas.

I think what I'm trying to say is, it doesn't matter about race, its about character and being appropriate to the overall story.

Wrex was a brilliant character, old, veteran with a sense of humor and well-timed one liners. Abe from Oddworld is another example of great non-human character, Stranger too and the horse, Agro from Shadow of the Colossus. Doesn't even talk and we love him.

Oh I see, and by taking out the s in version you've made it shorter - short version. Genius.
