Marvel Secret Invasion - Pretty mediocre stuff. Not very secrte, its a small secret bit at the start then just the usual big fight shennaigans.

Marvel , Fear Itself - Better, a Mike Mignola style tale of old wronged Asbardians declaring war on earth.

IMO The 616 universe has become a bit too convoluted and is full of people who had died but have been brought back to life about 5 times for me. The ultimate universe (especially Millars stuff) is much more fresh and interesting.

The Zombie stuff was boss. Frightful Four was inspired stuff

Not read that fella.

Just read Captain America: Reborn

I like the character of Cap but this was pretty mediocre stuff IMO. Bucky fells like a pale imitation of Steve. The plots min-meltingly silly and it only serves to tie up loose ends between Dark Avengers and Fear Itself.

Saw the discussion of Preacher on here a few months back and thought I'd give it a whirl, great series both funny and screwed up at the same time, Cassidy is brill. Just starting Dixie Fried.

Having an iPad is dangerous. My comic addiction is creeping back and I like it. Just read the first 6 issues of The Boys, Invincible and some Hellraiser. Also started Preacher, but I'm trying to temper myself a little. Also bought physical copies of Hellraiser chronicles Book 1, Cowboys Vs. Aliens (yawn) and The Punisher: The Slavers.

Just read XXXombies. A plague of zombies begins in 70's Hollywood. A porn director owes a shit ton of money to the Mafia and is trying to make enough films to get them to back off. A father looks for his daughter who has been recruited by said porn director.

It may sound a bit lame but it was truly fucking amazing. Rick Remenders tale is loaded with humour and gore. At many points I laughed until milk came out of my nose.

Followed it up with Marvel Zombies vs Army of Darkness and that title alone should either be the best idea ever or worst thing conceived. For me it wasace. Ash telling Doctor Doom 'Arrigato Mr Roboto' was funny as fuck. Plus Ash leching all over scantilly clad super heroines. Trademark one liners aplenty

The collections of Penny Arcade from 1998 to 2007. Super-awesome.
If in doubt, put the kettle on.

I know it's been out for a while but I've just finished Y: The Last Man and have to say what an excellent piece of fiction it is. Quite possibly the best comic series I've ever read, highly engaging, very thoughtful.

I'm thinking of picking up Y when I finish the current bunch of series I'm reading. It defo looks quality and the type of stuff I read.

It's excellent stuff with a bit of everything and much less OTT than the usual comics.

Saga: Volume One

Brian K. Vaughan's next big thing. Exceptional stuff, retaining all the wit and charm of Y: The last Man with an injection of the imaginative and the surreal. Can't wait for the series to continue.

Vaughan really is probably the best writer in comics at the moment.

Ultimate Iron Man: Armour Wars

A 3 star book, a faintly interesting tale of stolen technology with an interesting plot device that crops up come the end.

Ultimates: New Avengers Vs Ultimates

Another decent Millar penned book, not a classic but a solid read. Truth is the Ultimate universe is fuked now after Jeph Loeb and wont ever recapture the quality of the first 2 books.

Am currently reading The Boys vol 7 : The Innocents.

I like these stories but im beginning to realise what it is that is missing and why it isnt an essential read. Its the main characters, some of them are so vanilla and bland I can scarsely remeber the names, e.g Mothers Milk hasnt actually done anything interesting for the entire 7 book run.

However the subversive storylines themselves are ace.

Think I'm on the third vol of The Boys. I prefer Preacher, but there is something compellingly surreal about super heroes not behaving like traditional super heroes.

I'm liking Fables at the mo, the writing is up there with the best, imo.

Precahers waaaaay better. More memorable characters, simpler but better defined art, etc.

Holy shit though, Mothers Milk did something interesting in yesterdays book. Now its up to The Frenchman and The Female who only seem to exist to fill out pages and pulls peopls faces off to actually do something now.

the boys starts off brilliant and goes down hill slowly, volume 5 i think is herogasm and is a particular low point..

I've been reading selected New 52 stuff and it seems alright

had a go at Superman Earth One (vol.1&2) but its proper rubbish

Got Batmans new 52 vol.1 to read next
Of course, as ever, this is purely my opinion
