Well, another film about giant robots that want to kill each other.

Loved it!

If that was the film I'd of loved it too, turns out half the film is about a Rat faced Cun-t & his poorly acted & written
Out of place comedy family!!!... Yer. thats what I go to see a Transformers film for to see if an ugly guy with no
Acting talent can keep his super hot model girlfriend.... Utter shit.

Mate, I totally agree with you, I can't stand him either, but there was enough of the giant robot stuff to keep me happy! :D

The Five Year Engagement - *****

A really good film. Not at all what I expected. Genuinely funny, interesting and engaging. Great performance from the leads and some really great performances from the supporting cast.

The American - ****

As you'd expect given the director it's beautifully shot. The italian scenery also helps with making this film look amazing. George is good. It's a little cliched in places.. but overall I really enjoyed it.

I liked The American too Bob and its a very fine film in many aspects. It just went down a path so well trodden (Hitman-esque character seeking redemption, the ending) that i found it very difficult to get excited by it. It had absolutely nothing new to offer on any front and as such left me feeling a bit depressed.

Cowboys & Aliens - ** and a half.

How you can make a film about cowboys and aliens and make it dull I'll never know.

The Dark Knight Rises

Spoiler free report on The Dark Knight Rises here. Overall it doesn't reach the electric heights of The Dark Knight nor does it have the surprise of Begins. It's a much simpler film than its two predecessors but on the whole, an excellent and fitting end to a stellar trilogy.

Didn't blow me away nor surprise me as much as The Avengers did this year but it's a much smarter film really.

In all, very much worth your time and obviously anyone who's a fan has probably already seen it by the time I'm writing this

It is fantastic. Id have personally agreed with Bale when he says its a mix of 1 and 2. Moral ambiguity of 2, formula of 1.

Brilliant film, and brave blockbuster film-making.

In what way, and I'm not arguing, I'm just interested to hear, do you think it was brave?

Very brave, I'd say when you compare it against the rest of the years releases but for Nolan himself? Not especially to be honest. Rises is the simplest of all his Batman films despite its bigger scale.

I preferred the story. It didn't always make a lot of logical sense.. but it was a straightforward story to follow..

There's was some great set pieces. I agree with whats been said that it doesn't feel like a long movie either. Catwoman stole the show. Overall it's a very good film. Really nice to see nearly every important character from the other movies make themselves known in someway or other.

Same reasons the other Nolan Bat films were stand-outs really.

The attempts at multiple character arcs, the almost unrelenting darkness of it, the fact they try and make Bruce Wayne as much (if not more) of a character as Batman so your not counting down the seconds till he puts on the cowel, the huge scale of it, the fact although it was simpler than 2 it still engaged your brain.

Basically it took several decisions like that that someone like Michael Bay wouldnt, thats all.

Just goes to show, get great actors in your film and half your job is done.

I would add as well that this is the first movie ive ever seen where the audience applauded at the end. That has to say something.

Watched TDKR again tonight in IMAX and well ... fuck me it was even better. Good watch the second time around, didn't feel anywhere near as long and was nice seeing some little things I missed the first time.

Also saw a teaser for man of steal and someone shouted "FUCK YEAHHHH" after, to which everyone applauded.
