Top 3 best things of a thing ever! Thread

Postby The-Marb on Fri Dec 16, 2011 1:02 pm

Hey guys,

Just out of boredom and in the interest of healthy discussion i thought we could just do a thread where we discuss our top 3 things ever. No limit on genre, or subject, just list your top 3 things and the reasons. After a few days we will nominate someone to come up with a new subject.
Ill start with 2 subjects, so theres enough to talk about:

Top 3 types of crisp:
1. Salt and Vinegar Squares - crispy, tangy and moresish.
2. Prawn cocktail Watsits - Sweet and light.
3. Chilli Heat wave Doritos - Like the combo of the sweetness and the heat.

Top 3 Christmas Films (must have a direct link with Christmas, not just a film thats shown at Christmas)
1. Elf - Sweet, endearing, funny and actually quite touching.
2. Bad Santa - Again beneath the grumpy exterior, this movie has a sweet lovebale heart. Plus its feckin funny.
3. Scrooged - Not a classic, but some great moments.

I know what your thinking, "its vague, banal and dull", well so am i and i get on alright, so whats stopping you?

3 Best Whiskies Ever:

1. Jameson's - Irish whisky and so not technically a scotch but nothing hits the spot quite like it.
2. Glenfiddich - Not bothered how old it is. Splash of ice and brilliant
3. Jack Daniels - I know it's technically a Bourbon but if you're not in the mood for straight whisky it's the perfect one to serve with Coke.

We need to learn when to say "enough", rather than gluttonously devouring more and more of the same thing through sheer force of habit.

Oops. Sorry.

I'm easily confused. I've got one eye on the camera downstairs, One eye on my novel and that doesn't leave a lot of eyes for anything else.

Top 3 types of crisp:
1. Worcester sauce french fries. Light, tangy and just generally great.
2. Prawn cocktail Seabrook. The prawniest of prawn cocktail crisps and crinkle cut too.
3. Sea salt and black pepper Kettle Chips. The connoisseurs crisp, strong flavored and bloomin' crispy.

Top 3 Christmas Films (must have a direct link with Christmas, not just a film thats shown at Christmas)
1. Muppets Christmas Carol. Agree with Gugly here, great little film.
2. National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. Classic Christmas comedy romp.
3. A Christmas Carol. The 1971 one with humans and not muppets, an absolute classic.

Top 3 types of crisp:

1. Skips
2. Pickled Onion Monster Munch
3. Salt and Vinegar Walkers

Top 3 Christmas Films
1. Die Hard - The quintessential Christmas movie. Probably more Christmasy than the 25th of December.
2. A Christmas Carol - Either the version with Patrick Stewart or the version with the Muppets and Michael Caine. Take your pick.
3. Love Actually - I presume it's an official Christmas movie? Rather like it.

Good choices there Tom, man after my own heart.

Plus good choice about Die hard, it sneaks in due to its setting, and what a film! Wish i thought of that.

On the subject of Christmas movies does Die Hard count?

In that case I shall contribute my top three chrimbo films.

1. Die Hard - It's the perfect mix of one liners, violence and schmaltz.
2. It's a Wonderful Life - They just don't make films like this anymore.
3. Elf - Great.

Crisps.

1. Walkers Ready Salted - Really teh king of crisps and just perfect with a Pint of lager
2. M&S Hand Cooked Black Pepper - Ok, It's an M&S Kettle chip but the Black pepper has a real kick to it which helps get over the fact there's only about 4 individual crisps per bag.
3. Quavers - Great over looked crisp. As well as the fact that because they're mostly air you can eat a huge bag in a single sitting.

Pringles don't count. Technically they're not a crisp. There was a Tax ruling over it.

Die Hard has it's core themes aligned with essential Christmas values and of course it's setting makes sure of it so yes, Die Hard is the ultimate Christmas movie.

And what? Man...I'm gonna have to amend my list then.
