As opposed to the shows that Gug is, ironically, defending to the hilt?

Sopranos and West Wing are very mainstream, so I'd think less prone to fanboys with their endless 10 scores. Breaking Bad, more so. Fantasy and science fiction tend to get blind loyalty more than contemporary stuff.

Yes, fanboys exist for these series (and even more so for The Wire, particularly the kind of people who like to say they saw things before they were popular) but personally I think there's a higher percentage in those two genres.
If in doubt, put the kettle on.

Maybe.

I can only speak as I find and I thought it was a truly excellent show. If you losers have to find excuses as to why everyone agrees with me.. that's your look out.

I gotta agree with Bob (I'm probably a ZOMG fanboy though) and say I truly put Firefly up there with the best of them, despite it's one series run. Picking a top three shows however, would be tricky especially if it had to be in any particular order. Surprised nobody mentioned Deadwood though...that's a fucking masterpiece that is.

I'd also suggest that Sci-fi/fantasy's blind loyalty from extremist fans is probably on account of the genre being less mainstream than other genre's. I suppose it makes geeks feel a bit cool for being a trendy outsider who likes that show with laser beams/dragons instead of domestic abuse and swearing.

I thought Deadwood series 2 and 3 were a travesty. 1st was class.
If in doubt, put the kettle on.

Love all 3 series myself. Great development over them all, especially with regards the ever loveable Swearengen.

You're both on the right track.
It's:

1) Twin Peaks
2) The Wire
3) Breaking Bad

Edited due to somehow forgetting the best series ever when I first posted it...

Not in terms of how good they are, but for enjoyment that's how it goes for me now.
