Best Game Mass EFfect 2. Without a doubt the most satisfying and exhilarating game of the year, rewarding my personal investment in the characters and story as well as pulling a few punches and letting me explore parts of the ME universe I've always dreamed of. In so many departments, this game is the best there is and Bioware should be commended for the progress and benchmark they've set.

Best Character Legion. Okay so he's in it for a tenth of the time of the other characters but it's enough to let him shine. And though I could have picked Mordin or Thane, equally rich and interesting characters, Legion is just so unique and is an utterly brilliant sci-fi creation that piqued my interest instantly. Plus, his character design was gorgeous.

Worst game that people thought was good Bayonetta/Vanquish. Because they're both from the same guy and both shit, overrated pieces of nonsense with nothing redeeming besides flashy gameplay gimmicks and combo's. Everything I hate and hope gaming doesn't aspire to be.

Best Multiplayer Halo Reach. Fun, deep and balanced. Love it.

Best Moment Finishing Mass Effect 2 only to witness millions of Reapers approaching and then thinking "Fuck, I maybe should have kept that Collector base after all..."

Best Arcade Zeno Clash. Cause it plays well and is mad, about madness and utterly mad.

Worst Story Bioshock 2. Disappointing and wasteful aren't strong enough words to describe how much this undid the great work of the first game.

I also wish I had a spot to mention RDR but ME2 seems to have taken the spotlight here but RDR was a definite close second.

Maybe I think NG2 was full of flashy gimmicks?

Best Game Red Dead Redemption, Great story, Something that hadnt been done properly before. Immersive experience. Top notch.

Best Character The mask from splatterhouse, He's voiced by the same guy who does tigger in winnie the pooh and says things like "I never met a clown I didn't want to rip the fuck apart"

Worst game that people thought was good Bayonetta, I paid £40 for that shit then traded it in that afternoon for darksiders which was epic.

Best Multiplayer Assassins Creed Brotherhood, Well done for trying something new and different.

Best Moment Reaching 90k as a gamerscore / levelling up to 50 in ac brohood with my brother / Winning the mags RDR challenge / Getting my letter answered by PM.

Best Arcade Sonic Adventure / Undergarden / Xmen / Crazy Taxi.

Worst Story CODBLOPS. Just aimless noise and something about multiple personality disorder.

Then I don't see how you can praise one game for its gameplay.. then criticise another for the very same thing.

Eh? When does he do this? Am I reading wrong person's post? Please point me in the right direction oh mighty Apollo.

He's referring to my praise of Ninja Gaiden 2 (a while ago) and the fact I didn't praise Bayonetta.

The simple fact is, for one reason or another, I tolerated NG2's idiocy in favour of it's challenging gameplay. Bayonetta on the other hand, I didn't enjoy. Maybe it was the absurd and horrific flashy visuals or the pretension about the whole stupid ordeal of a plot or even that the soundtrack was misplaced and got on my nerves. It could also simply be that Ninja Gaiden 2 was a while ago and the last of a dying breed, when games were out to steal every coin you inserted into the machine and had to be challenging to be rewarding. I put up with it. Now games can tell vivid and sophisticated stories, deep experiences or even simply fun blockbuster rides. And to me, Bayonetta represents neither and I'm done with that old school gaming people seem to hail in such a rose tinted light.

If I went back and played NG2, I'd probably pay more attention to it's frustrations rather than it's merits and looking back there was a hell of a lot of needless frustration. So yeah, I'm criticizing Bayonetta. It's shit.

I had the feeling that after leaving my controller on the arm of the chair and the game doing that sequence anyway that it wasn't particuarly interactive.

Best game. ME2, Fallout :New Vegas and Red Dead (IMO its not boring....its excatly the pace it needs to be, im a huge western fan though, and they are all languished in terms of pacing)
Best character John Marsden - the most well written main character in a long time.
Worst game that people thought was good. CoD: Blops...ok, not a bad game just deeply average.
Best multiplayer. Halo; Reach - Co-opy goodnes!
Best moment. The Normandy blowing up at the start of ME2
Best Arcade game No XBL at mo..cant comment.
Worst story. Vanquish.
