I think its largely unnecessary recent games i have played like - Earth Defense Force 2017 - Beautiful Katamari - Geometry Wars - Tenchu Z - Pong - Fifa - F1 -

to name a few have mostly only had a story because it seems to be required but certainly dont have one worth paying attention too. Granted some of these titles are sports games but there is a good example of how gameplay makes up the majority of the title and does so quite adequtely.

A story is nice to have in an rpg or a convoluted fps but its not necessary - i would rather have a clearly defined mission structure - like MW than a story behind the why.

Then if you also look at the massive rise in online play where there is no story to be seen at all - again MW - Halo etc etc

I got nothing against a story and its great in Fallout and others but i would rather have a good game.

A very quick shoutout for PONG btw - there are some great online PONG flash games.

As for a clearly defined misson structure it works for the likes of Mw etc because it tells its story in a different way. I think storyline and gameplay should go hand in hand.

Its not a story if it all fits on the back of the box. Its a blurb.
