Infinity Ward’s first baby steps…
Fans of the recently released Modern Warfare 2 may not be aware that Infinity Ward’s first real foray into the FPS world was with the Medal Of Honor series. Or, more specifically, the first PC game in the franchise, Medal Of Honor: Allied Assault. After the game’s success, a number of its developers split and went on to form Infinity Ward, and the rest, as they say, is history.

With the original Call Of Duty making its way to XBLA, what’s to say the same couldn’t happen to Allied Assault? It’s more than worthy of attention. In fact, if you take a look back over the game, much of what Infinity Ward has done in Modern Warfare 2 can be seen, in a very basic sense, in Allied Assault. The huge set pieces, the drama and, most importantly, the frantic action. Fans of Infinity Ward’s games really should check this out or, if getting hold of a PC copy is too much hassle, checking out Call Of Duty 2 is a real must. Most of the X360 team still play it at regular intervals, and it’s a truly stunning FPS.

Call of Duty 2 still ranks as my favourite shooter.
In confession…. I’ve never actually played call of duty 2 >.<
